Londoners nicknamed our bike share solution “Boris bikes” in honour of Boris Johnson, as he rolled in the Santander Cycles system when he was Mayor of London.
London Bike Share Program, 10 Years Later
After 10 years, our bike share program is ever so popular with the residents and tourists visiting the city. The big city now possesses more than 13,850 bikes and 839 smart stations. Our bike share system was perfect for London, where transit traditionally relies on cars, to solve mobility challenges and improve the quality of city-dwellers’ lives.
About London Bike Share Program
London has always been an innovative, bustling, and ambitious city. However, even with a state-of-the-art public transport system, it was still one of the world's most congested cities. When we thought of going international with our system, London was already in our mind.
Our micromobility solution is ideal to meet London’s residents' and tourists' needs and expectations. With the help of mayor Boris Johnson, we were able to launch this wonderful project 10 years ago. The success of the “Boris Bikes” was instantaneous. After less than a trimester evaluating the program, we already had more than 90,000 subscribers, and more than a million rides had been taken. Thus proving the necessity of our bike share system in London.
Our bike share program is now available in more than forty big cities worldwide and on almost all continents. We are proud to offer Londonians our smart, modern, eco-friendly transport solution.
